Weaving Day

Here are some pictures of our basket weaving group.
This meeting was actually earlier this year.
On the left: My sister, Marianne (brown hair) Cheryl, (white shirt) who taught us how to weave.
On the right: My mother-in-law, Geri (sitting) Kathy in pink shirt.
Missing from photo, Mel and Lori (my sis-in-law)
We meet on the first Friday of every month at my mother-in-law's house.  For the most part, we all work on the same basket.  We have to order our supplies online since there is not a supplier here.
This basket has a wooden base as opposed to a woven base.
Twining has been done and it's time to 'upset' the spokes.
The baskets we are working on here are quite large and take up a lot of space!
Rows of reed are being woven in row by row to create the walls of the basket.
Rows are done and the rim is prepped for lashing.

  11. Do you change the mystery block into English to read it? I clicked on it and I can't read it but I love her work. Any information you can give me will be appreciated. Thanks. Cindy

  12. I had a friend in college that showed me how to weave baskets. I made one and gave it to my mom for Mother's Day that year. I was surprised how fun and not complicated it was.

    Yours are just beautiful!!
