In March of 2008, I introduced you to my nephew Brock who is autistic.
I signed up with the rest of Brock's imediate and extended family for the Walk Now for Autism and held a fundraiser on my blog.
Many of you generously dontated your handmade items to be purchased during the fundraiser. Several gave monitary donations for Autism awreness. And more still sent encouraging words and took the time to learn more about Autism.
Brock's mother in particular was extremely touched that strangers would be so eager to help her sweet boy. I am greatful to all of you and continue to be amazed at how much can be done by a group of wonderful bloggers!

I love this walk down Mel's Memory Lane. I took my daughter shopping at a bead store earlier this week and saw an autism awareness charm while we were there. I held it in my hand and thought about Brock and all that my blogging friend Mel had taught me about autism. I love that you have made a difference with your blog!

I am a Cross Categorical Special Education teacher for students in grades 3-6. Every day is a new adventure--An outstanding book to help understand autism is "My Best Friend Will", by Tara Tuchel.
I am an occupational therapist in the public schools and I work with many autistic children. They are special gifts!
We have a little friend, Jacoy, who is austistic and he is a light in our lives. A great kid. It's wonderful what you are doing to help people learn about autism. The basket you made is awesome...what a fun skill you have.
A good teacher really does make all the difference in the world. I'm glad you had such a good experience in Brock's classroom, I hope you have the opportunity to go every year (or more!)

Its great when family and friends can come together to support each other isn't it? My sister-in-law's family had a son with Tay-Sachs disease and although Dylan lost his fight, he and his family did (and still do) amazing things to raise awareness of the disease...the first step to fighting it.
Good luck to your family in their journey. Brock is luck to have a great aunt!
It was a wonderful thing that you did for Brock. I'm sure you really helped raise awareness quite a bit with people who have never had any experience with autism.
