Goodbye Utah

It's very sad, but we've moved from our hometown, Tooele, Utah two days ago.

We drove (two cars) to Denver, Colorado during one of the top 10 worst storms in their history.  That meant that our top speed here was 45 miles per hour.  It was a long, long, drive.  We left Tooele at 2:30pm and arrived in Denver at 6:00am.  We didn't even stop for dinner.

Nathan and Urban spun off the road and had to fix a flat in the dark storm.

I also found out that my computer's hard drive is DEAD.  A new one will be installed, but there is no retrieving the info that was on there.  I'm most sick about loosing several quilt patterns I was in the process of writing.

This weekend we will look for a condo, home or apartment and try to get settled in.

THANKS

to Marianne (sister) Miles (brother-in-law) and father-in-law Steve for rushing to our aid in getting our home packed and in shape for selling!!  We could not have ever done it with out them - it was all done in less than 1 week!

GOODBYE
to my dear neighborhood friends; Jen and Stephanie.  Basket Girls; Kathy and Cheryl.  My quilt shop family; Marta, Becky, Sam, Carol, Laura and Valyn. And to extra special family members Mari, Lori, Lissa, Deanie.

We'll look forward to hearing from you when you're settled in. I live in Utah too but we didn't get anything up here compared to what Colorado got. What a nightmare move for you. Hopefully you won't move again in the winter any time soon :) Cindy

I know there is a lot of amazing quilt stores in the Denver area. I hope you love it there. Sorry to hear of all the complications in your life right now. We look forward to your getting settled and back on track soon.
The news just reported the biggest storm in Colorado in 12 years. Yeow!

I am sorry that you had to leave Utah, but I know you will find joy in your new home.
That road between Utah and Denver can really be a bugger when it snows, because it always blows. I am happy that you made it safe!
Have fun at all the great quiltshops out there and be sure to take time to go over to Golden, Colo. to see the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum. It"s fabulous!

I lived in Denver for a while - hope you enjoy it! Be sure and take Urban to the zoo - it's a pretty great place (or it was in 1988 - lol). And lots of new quilt shops to break in!! I'm sure you'll do great - will be thinking of you... and they do have Diet Coke in Denver...

When one door closes...you know the rest, Mel.

With your outgoing personality and 'joie de vivre', it'll ony be a matter of time before Colorado becomes home.

Blessings to you and your family.

I predict within a few months you will be making posts about all the happy places you are finding in your new area. For now, just take a deep breath and rejoice in the fact that you arrived safely in spite of that horrible storm. (Where are you staying while you look for a permanent residence?)

I'm glad you all got there safely, Mel! Lots of wonderful things in Colorado - I lived there twice in my 20's and loved it! In fact, the first time I moved there in 1969, I drove in one of those worst snowstorms, too!! Can't wait until you get settled!
Cheers!
