Happy Birthday to ME!

While still in Tooele, my sis-in-laws and mother-in-law took me to dinner for my birthday.  We ate at Texas Roadhouse {favorite!!}

Marianne and Mekhi sent us home with a bouquet of birthday balloons, some yummy cinnamon roasted almonds and two cases of Harvey Weinhard root beer.

My parents gave me money so I could get something for our new apartment.  I went to IKEA and got a 3 draw chest that I will use as a side table in my bedroom.

My mother-in-law bought me a gift and left it here when she visited a couple of weeks ago.  I loved these darling little flowers that you can stick anywhere!

We had dinner in one of our favorite areas of Denver, Pearl Street.  We at at the Pearl Street Grill.  I had a yummy burger with grilled onions!

Urban and Nathan made me a sewing machine cake.

It's hard to tell there's a sewing machine drawn with frosting due to all the colored sprinkles!

And I made myself this table runner!
I hope to post more on this project later this week!

A note from my mom:

"I can still remember the details of the day 36 years ago when the phone rang at Granite High School where I was working telling us that a three day old baby girl was waiting for us.

I was numb and couldn't speak for a few seconds leaving the social worker wondering if I had changed my mind.

Are you kidding????? After eight long years I was finally going to be a mother. . . a mother!! I just couldn't believe it.

I didn't know how to be a mother. And now I'm a grandmother. It's much easier being a grandma than a mother. This is life's payday for sure."

Happy birthday sweet Mel! Thank you for sharing your Mom's comments - even though my first son is only 15, I too remember the call to tell us he had been born - like it was just a year ago! The next three phone calls in the coming years are just as precious to me!

It looks like you had a wonderful birthday! Happy 36th! It only gets better - from a 47er :)

What a wonderful comment from your mom. I can tell you were very loved, knowing she waited 8 years. And the cake...a lot of work and thought went into the decorating. Especially impressive for 2 guys to come up with. Tell them great job!
Happy Birthday!
