Linen or Gift Bag Tutorial

The gifts inside will be will be a bonus to the fun fabric wrapping!
This project certainly can be sewn by hand if you don't have access to a machine.
Before you begin, square up your fat quarter.
Make a double fold on the raw edge and press.
The other end will be the selvage edge.
If you are making this project as a bag for a gift, you may want to
use a large stitch so the receiver can easily undo the sewing and use the fat quarter as she/he desires.
If you intend the bag for your linens you can use a regular sewing stitch.
There is no need to back stitch at this point, but if it's your habit, go ahead!
After seams have been sewn, press.
Fold your double hemmed edge down about 3 1/2".
Fold the selvege end up to cover first fold. Keep about 1/2" away from the folded edge.
Get ready for the thank you notes!
Your gift will all the more appreciated when when accompanied by a designer bag!

Other uses for this designer bag:
Organize your drawers. Put items you don't frequently use (nylons, scarves, do rags etc.) into one of your handmade bags to keep your drawers nice and tidy.
Going to the pool? How about putting your undies in one of these bags just in case your bag topples over you will be saved from scrambling to rescue your unmentionables before others get a look!
Traveling? Make a bag for each pair of shoes. It will keep your clothes from getting dirty from the soles.
Organize your jockey box (glove box). Put all your insurance and registration info in a lovely bag so they are all together when you need them.
Perhaps you could keep your makeup or hair accessories in a bag or two.

Tricky Tina

Tina from Quilting for Enjoyment is very clever!
She had me as a secret sister through one of our Yahoo groups during the winter months, October, November and December. She lavished me with wonderful items I would have purchased myself! I tell you she tapped into my brain somehow and knew just what I would like!
Since I had such a fun time I signed up for another 3 months of secret sister swapping. Our hostess randomly picked names and gave us our assignments. This time I receive goodies from Annie.

She too had a great knack for knowing what I liked and included gorgeous fabrics and table runner patterns knowing I wanted to complete several this year. What luck! How did I get two wonderful sisters?
So, while drooling over the last package of the three month series I become very, very, very confused! There is a beautiful hand quilted table runner amongst the other wonderful treats. On the back of the runner is a label that is signed by Tina. Tina, NOT Annie.
Hmm. How does Annie and Tina know each other? Then I read the card. Tina was assigned my name again! She hid the fact by using her grandmother's name in the return address!
I loved the surprise and reveled in her creativity for a good while!
THEN, the other day I received a note from Tina and enclosed was this beautiful fabric post card! I've seen these on the Internet here and there, but have never made nor received one so I was thrilled! I'm excited now to try a couple post cards of my own!
Tina is a beautiful quilter and a generous lady. I'm so glad our paths have met!!

Secret Sister Package

Yeah!! I got a FUN package on my door step yesterday!!
It is from my Fabric Lovers Secret Sister Swap.
I L O V E these delicious colorful fabrics!! A half yard of each!
This charming apron is my very first apron!!!! I know aprons are a big thing right now and I do love them, but I've never made one, purchased one or have been gifted one until now!! I was sooooo excited!!
It has three handy pockets and is trimmed in red ric rac!! Doesn't get any better!
Well, unless you add CHOCOLATE, a table runner pattern, a darling handbag sized calendar and thread!!
Oh, I'm a lucky gal!!

This is what I got from my secret sister for January. It's a quilted Valentine's bag that held a box of CHOCOLATES and a kit to make a charming Valentine table runner! Very sweet!!

These are my fabrics for Pat Sloan's Orange Project . I need to get some more 'range' in my oranges and pick just two other colors.
This project is so good for me since this year I am trying to be more creative instead of just following a pattern.

I found a fun and easy tutorial for fabric covered magnets at JCasa Handmade's blog. There are numerous tutorials on her creative blog, but this one I could actually do with my son!

Mail!

I got my last Secret Sister the other day and as before, it is WONDERFUL!!! Beautiful hand dyed yarn, funky fabric, Christmas fabric, batic fabric with metalic trees, thimble holder, hand quilting needles, machine needles, candy, and a quilt pattern! My secret sister for the last 3 months as ben Tina, THANKS TINA!! Arriving today was a package from Pat Sloan! I won a giveaway on her blog!! My husband wouldn't let me open the wrapped gifts until Christmas, but the fabric was in a clear bag so I was able to play with it today! Fun prints right?? It's from her new collection Arabella. It's not even in stores yet, but I got some!!! I will post the rest of the gift after Christmas!
