Florabunda and Lissa Update

Be Aware, Be Thankful

3. Dr.s & nurses
4. Sun rays

I was wandering around and while visiting Annette's I saw this wonderful FREE BOM!!

It's called Florabunda and it is designed by Erin Russek.

Since I've been missing in action, I'm most likely the last to know on this one, but I had to post about it in case there are others out there that barely have their head above water!

If you are new to appliqué, Erin has tons of appliqué help at her place with lots of detailed pics!

Update on Lissa:
(more info)

Thank you so much for the inquiries, thoughts and prayers for Lissa.
She is on the road to recovery!!!!

She can breathe on her own for 4 hours now!!

She still has the trache and hasn't been able to keep oral nutrients down. She is not able to speak due to the tubes inserted in her throat, but does her best to communicate.

She still has an open incision from her sternum to pelvic bone so they can 'clean' her out daily as she has a rare infection and seepage.

She doesn't have to be hooked up to the dialysis machine full time now, just a few times a week.  Her kidneys may begin to work in time, but nothing so far.

Since Lissa is more awake now, she is becoming increasingly depressed.  There are no answers for her questions and no end to her boredom.  Most heartbreaking for her is the fact that she has not seen her boys for almost 2 months.  Her three boys are her life.  It's hard to see our care free, always happy Lissa in such emotional and physical pain.

Today:
Lissa went in for a scheduled clean out surgery and the Dr. could see blood filling up her abdomen cavity. The artery to her spleen had burst about the same time they got her dressing off.

The vascular surgery team was with her nearly 5 hours. They had to go in through her femoral artery and block off the aorta to stop the flow of blood to make the repairs. They sewed a piece of vein to the artery to make a patch. They had to remove her spleen. She has had 40 units of blood during this surgery.

Oh dear how much can one person take. I hope she is getting better soon. Are her sons far away?
Look after yourself.

Sending healing vibes to Lissa. She is such a strong woman. Thanks for the lovely BOM link. I have always wanted to learn that type of applique.

I can certainly understand that she would feel depressed. I pray that she recovers enough SOON that she can at least get to see her children. I'm sure the children must also be quite confused about all of this. I am longing for the day when you tell us the infection is gone AND that her kidneys are again working, too.

It has been such a long, long road for everyone involved. I cannot imagine how she must be holding up through it all. My prayers continue for her and her loving family.

This is a good reason for everyone to get out and donate blood!!!!!!!

The BOM is just gorgeous! I will have to check it out.
