Quilt, Cooking, and Baskets

1. Prayers
2. Faith
3. Hope
* * * *

I made the two baskets shown.  The larger basket with a handle is called Jeremiah and was the first basket I ever wove.  It's one of my favorites because of it's versatile use.

The smaller, round basket is one I designed as a beginner basket pattern I taught some friends.

My favorite muffin is my mother's recipe for Brown Sugar Muffins.  She always made them as we grew up and the smell of them baking still gives me warm childhood fuzzies!

This little quilt was one I designed for Tooele (Utah) County Quilter's Guild Challenge in 2004.

It was a fun idea, crayons were wrapped up in a little package and those who wanted to participate choose one.

The rules that we could use the color of the crayon, and shades of it, and one neutral color such as white, cream, black to create a quilt of any kind.  I was still new to hand applique, so I wanted something to practice my skills.

The fabrics are from Sandy Gervais' Happy Hollow collection.

Charming Girl's Quilt Club - August

Well I'm counting the first month of the Charming Girl's Quilt Club a success for me even though I didn't get all my projects done. I did get 2 out of 3, so that's not too bad!
I really think the challenge helped to keep me focused to get the projects done. And I only started 4 new projects instead of a dozen!!
* * * * * AUGUST GOALS * * * * *
  1. Finish Witchie Hats (my own design) for Jane's Spooktackular Halloween Swap. I'm making fifteen 12 1/2" paper pieced blocks - 12 for swapping and three for individual swaps.
  2. Quilt my St. Paddy's wall hanging I made using Kim's FREE tutorial
  3. Finish, quilt and send a little something for my parents. I'm not posting a picture because I want it to be a surprise!
OK, so I should be able to get these done! Before I start on those three, I need to make a few things for our family reunion this weekend. Hmm, maybe I have something laying around here I can use!
Good luck Charming Girls Everywhere!!

OP Top

Well, I had a ball making these fun blocks! Thanks Pat for the challenge to work with ORANGE! Prior to this weekend, the only time I used orange was to make pumpkin appliques. Don't get me wrong, I do like orange, just never thought about it as a focus color I guess! This quilt top will get a border of all the scraps I trimmed off the blocks. I will work on that during this week, and then get some Minky for the back and the quilt will be ready for Thurber Herkamer Lawrence!! (No, that's not his real name, just a name we all call him since his parents haven't decided yet!) The little one is due to arrive this April. OH! And even though I had a wonderful time during my first cyber retreat, it was accentuated today by finding out that I won an ORANGE GIVEAWAY!!!! Thanks to Natalie from School of Crafts Like me, she constructed the block differently (not like mine or Pat's) and she did some darling coasters out of the OP block that you should check out - real easy and fun!
