Some more {LOVE}

1.  My hands
2.  Gifts
3.  Opportunities to learn

Today I finished up the top of a Valentine's runner kit I received last year from Tina, my secret sister at the time.

I'm going to hand quilt it.

Don't you love 2fers?

This runner provided some little patchwork hearts for a second project.  Do you see how I cut out the fabric after I had hand appliqued around the red hearts?

Don't know how I'll use the little cuties yet.  Perhaps I'll sew two together and stuff them for an ornament or gift topper.  I could sew one to the front of a card for a sweet note.  I could applique them to another pieced background and make a pillow cover.  Possibilities are endless!

Remember/Note:
I'm on a creative journey over on my artsy blog, come on over and have a look!

Happy Valentine's Day

Be Aware, Be Thankful
1. Nathan's love
2. Urban's love
3. Parent's love

This is a repost of a drawing my Grandfather drew for and of my Grandmother when they were still newlyweds in 1935. Isn't it sweet?

My grandfather was an illustrator for a newspaper at a CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) camp in Cedar City, Utah and was away from my grandmother for months at a time.

I hope to one day make a stitchery out of it, not real sure how to go about it, I love the detail.

Saturday night, February 13th, the three of us went to my favorite place (Texas Roadhouse) for a nice Valentine's dinner.  Then we went to a Lego store and let Urban select a Lego set.  He chose an Indiana Jones set, mainly because it had a motorcycle - something he's wanted for his collection.

I get to buy some art supplies for an e-course that begins on Monday.  Urban also selected a pot of tulips for my Valentine's gift. I've been leaving a Valentine plus a treat for Nathan every morning since February 1st.

Valentine's is kind of a silly holiday, but it's good to be conscious of our loved ones!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm so excited to show you a drawing my Grandfather drew for and of my Grandmother when they were still newlyweds in 1935. Isn't it sweet? My grandfather was an illustrator for a newspaper at a CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) camp in Cedar City, Utah and was away from my grandmother for months at a time.

My 3 year old son asked me today, "Are you and daddy going to dinner for 'Sometimes Day'? (Valentine's Day) What a cutie!

fUn DaY!!

Instead of working on projects that have some sort of deadline, I PLaYeD today in my studio!!
I made some Valentine's Day ornaments or gift toppers.
I do plan on having a tutorial for them, although I know you can probably figure them out on your own, they are very simple.
My secret sister from last quarter, Tina, wanted to do a Spring Cottage swap and I was game!!
We decided to swap three cottages made from Nanette's infamous Christmas Cottage Tutorial made in the colors of spring. I tell you, these cottages are so addicting and so fun to make for every season!! I know I'll be doing one for Halloween, so heads up!
I had so much fun selecting fabrics since I don't usually use pastels, but I'm enchanted with the idea of a Spring Cottage Quilt!
I also prepared a primitive flower applique for my Calendar Quilt. I'll post pics of that when I'm done applying it.
Have a creative day!

Fun Swaps and Stuff

You know I love a swap! Now that Christmas and New Year's is over, I don't have anything to stress about (ha-ha!) - so I went in search of some swaps! Creative Kismet is having a BIRD exchange! I'm excited about this since I just designed my own bird ornament to top Christmas gifts this year! Participants make 5 birds, send them to Regina then wait for her to send you back 5 different birds from other YOU can still join until January 9th! * * * * * * * * * * Valentine's hasn't been a favorite holiday of mine, probably since I feel that love is forced or expected. I'm trying to change my attitude and I think a fun ValDay exchange might do the trick! This swap found at Bunch of Scrap's blog is a great one since you are assigned just one person to give three things to, home-made or not. I can do this, and I might feel some love while I'm at it! Sign up until Jan 9th.

So where did I find all of these fun swaps? On the Swap Dex blog. There's tons of swaps that look like fun, but I can only do so much!

* * * * * * * * * * For the resolutionaly challenged like me, Tip Junkie is hosting a "Word for the Year 2009" giveaway. It's a great concept, you choose ONE word to live by during 2009. ONE word that sums up what you want out of 2009. ONE. I'm going to have to think on this a bit, but wanted to let you all know about it. ZEAL * SIMPLE * BREATHE * TRY * CREATE
